When the highly like Prince Fabious’s (Franco) bride is kidnapped at the wedding he goes on a quest to rescue her. Forced to go along is his lazy and useless brother Thadeous (McBride).
Your Highness, as the name may suggest, is in the genre of stoner comedies. Not because there is an overload of drugs in the movie, but because it is what says most about the type of humour it is. Franco (Pineapple Express, 2008) and McBride (Land of the Lost, 2009) aret wo you would expect to see in a comedy like this, but it is more surprising seeing Portman (Black Swan, 2010) in the cast as the tough warrior they encounter on their quest. It has its ups and downs, but when it is best it is a comic Dungeon & Dragons movie for fans of silliness.
The premise for the movie evolved from a frivolous game David Gordon Green and Danny McBride used to play to while away on film sets. Each would take turns in suggesting a title for a film, and the other would try to concoct a viable storyline. When the title “Your Highness” was put forward, the premise was, “It’s about a Prince who gets stoned and fights dragons.”
