A group of best friends go on a trip to Mexico. Here a charming stranger (Liboiron) convinces them to join him for a game of Truth or Dare. But when they arrive back home, they discover it is a game you can’t leave. Unless you die.
Truth or Dare takes something familiar and makes it horror. It is the innocent school game with a vicious alter ego and an interesting set-up for a horror movie. Once it is set into gear, the movie moves along without many surprises, but the concept of truth and therefore lies, makes a rather interesting study of keeping secrets and the necessity of white lies. The cast is good and convincing as the tight group threaten to turn against each other as secrets emerges and their lives are threatened. Solid entertainment.
The actors had to mimic the facial structure of the Calux smile prior to the CGI rendering of the face itself. Tyler Posey and Lucy Hale‘s faces did not need much computer tweaking to create the smiles, Wadlow commenting that augmentation was only at 5% for the two of them.
