A group of medical researchers works on bringing the dead back to life to give medical staff longer time to cure and heal. But after an attempt is successful, some of the team sense something is different with the animal brought back to life and then an accident with deadly results happen.
The Lazarus Effect is a tight little horror thriller. For most of the movie it is restricted both in space and members of the cast, adding a sense of claustrophobia suitable for the story. Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens, 2011) and Bolger (The Moth Diaries, 2011) are the stars of the movie with their powerful performances but everyone in the cast does a good job. The movie raises the usual ethical questions about researchers playing God and the dark past of Wilde’s character adds some spice to this sci-fi horror.
The title comes from the biblical story where Jesus resurrected Lazarus after he had been dead for four days.
