While sharing a hospital room rich playboy Edward (Jack Nicholson) and married mechanic Carter (Morgan Freeman) strikes up an unlikely friendship. After they are both determined terminally ill Edward gets a hold of the ‘Bucket’ list Carter is writting about things to do before he dies and convinces him to make the list a reality.
Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally, 1989) is no stranger to movies about unlikely friends or emotional stories and The Bucket List is no exception. Though the story is simple it wins with it’s heartwarming tale of friendship and it’s enjoyable moments as the two men live out their dreams and maybe even ends up living more than they ever had. Nicholson (As Good As It Gets, 1997) would have stolen the show with his devilish charm from anyone who isn’t of the excellent Freeman’s (The Shawshank Redemption, 1994) calibre, but as it is, the two men suit each other perfectly as the calm Freeman balances of the manic Nicholson with a pleaseant result. Mainly thanks to the riveting charisma of the two superstars of the movie, it is a movie that is bound to put a smile on your face and remind you to live every day like it’s the last.
While Morgan Freeman wore a bald cap,Jack Nicholson shaved his head for the film.
