Following the American Civil War, a colonel (Liam Neeson) hunt down a man (Pierce Brosnan) against whom he bears a grudge.
This moody contemporary western begins in snow-covered woods, one battered man (Pierce Brosnan) is pursued by a determined Neeson and his gang of hired hands. Brosnan’s (Tomorrow Never Dies, 1997) Gideon is resourceful and outwits Neeson’s () otherwise capable and tough-nosed Carver. The scene is set for a classic revenge tale, with allusions to something that happened between the two of them during the U.S. Civil War. However, the film takes an odd turn halfway through. The result is a bit uneven, but the performances are good and you are likely to be entertained if you like action thrillers with a somewhat unusual setting.
Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan both said they were thrilled to make western as they had both loved the genre as kids.
