santa swap official poster

Release year: 2016

Screenwriter: John Kåre Raake (based on the story by Alf Prøysen)

Carpenter Andersen (Seim) loves Christmas and goes through great efforts every year to make Christmas special for his kids. But one year he has an accident which threatens to ruin Christmas, but then he meets a very special person.

Alf Prøysen’s classic Christmas tale is well-known in Norway where the national channel every year has  a program where it is narrated to pictures. So most Norvegians has grown up to this tale, but if you are not from the land in north, there is a big chance this is your first experience with the innocent Andersen and his family. It is a sweet and simple story about the spirit of Christmas and family. Seim (The Thing, 2011) is a delight as the kind-hearted carpenter and Baasmo Christiansen (Kon-Tiki, 2012) charming as Santa Claus. Most not-Norvegians will probably get a kick out of seeing the way this cold country approach the whole Santa concept but everyone fond of Holiday films will find it charming.
