Release year: 1997

Director: Brett Ratner

Screenwriter: Joel Cohen, Alec Sokolow

Starring: Charlie Sheen, Chris Tucker, Heather Locklear, Elise Neal, Paul Sorvino, Larry Hankin, Gérard Ismaël, David Warner, Veronica Cartwright

After involuntarily being part of a prison escape, small time con man Franklin (Tucker) sees himself wanted for cop murder and strikes a deal with the man who had him arrested, TV newsman James Russell (Sheen), promising him an exclusive story for his help.

A year before truly making Tucker famous with Rush Hour (1998), Ratner directed this action comedy where Tucker makes life difficult for Sheen (Wall Street, 1987). The story is pretty straight-forward and typical for the buddy-comedy genre this falls under. A crook and a cop, though in this case a newsman, is forced to work together and form a friendly bond. Tucker and Sheen fill out those parts satisfactorily and the movie makes for great entertainment when in need of a decent action comedy.
