Nick (Ice Cube) and Suzanne (Nia Long) has married and Suzanne and the kids have moved in with Nick. But his apartment is too small for a family and the couple buy a house that only needs a little fixing to become their dream home. But when they move in, they discover that it needs a lot more than a little fixing.
A concept seen before in movies like Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) and The Money Pit (1986) this sequel to the 2005 family comedy Are We There Yet, sees Ice Cube (21 Jumps Street, 2012) adding house trouble to kid trouble. The same cast returns to play the now family but here they are joined by McGinley (The Belko Experiment, 2016), which only adds to the humour. As Chuck, who sells them their home and then turn up wearing different hats for different jobs, he soon becomes a big part of the story and works well at driving Nick mad. The kids are still great, but they are forced to take a step back to make room for the dream house from hell. This ensures it isn’t a sequel that merely retell the same story and this is a sequel that keeps the quality from the first movie.
This is the fourth movie with Ice Cube and Nia Long, the first movie was Boyz in the Hood, second being Friday and thirdly Are We There Yet.
